This mesmerizing couplet penned by Raghupati Sahay urf Firaq Gorakhpuri was quoted in the popular film Zindagi na milegi dobara, by Farhan Akhtar’s character, Imran who plays a poet in the film.

You must write more about Firaaq and his personal life as well, which is just as (if not more) interesting as his poetry… :)
In fact, it would be a good idea to have a series of such posts about poets as well. The stories of Josh, Firaaq, Majaaz and so on are so mesmerizing. And Firaaq is probably the most eccentric of the lot, after Majaaz :)
