Vaqyaat or vaqya means an incident or an occurrence.
Here is a beautiful dialogue from the popular Pakistani TV show Zindagi Gulzar Hai, that conveys a powerful thought and uses this lafz:
“zindagi naam hai namumkinaat ka, ittefaqat ka, vaqyaat ka aur unpar hamara koi ikhtiyaar nahin hota.”
Life is all about impossibilities, co-incidences and happenings that we never seem to have any control over.

And here is a couplet by Nazeer Banarasi with this Urdu lafz –
mujhe gham nahin hai is kaa ki badal gayaa zamaanaa
merii zindagii ke maalik kahiin tum badal na jaanaa
mere paas vaqt thodaa, mere vaaqyaat lambe
kahaan sar-guzasht apani, na suno meraa fasaanaa
I am not sorrowful that the world may have changed,
O controller of my life, I hope you don’t change
I have less time, but so many incidents (to go through)
The account of my happenings is in a different realm, do not hear my story
Wonderful couplet !
Also, This play can be viewed several times and seems fascinating every time you see it. Portrays life of Kashaf Murtaza in a realistic perspective that only she experiences. The other one Sher – e – Zaat is another play based on the novel of the same name by Umera Ahmed. Wish we get to see more of these.
Vaqyaat is plural (incidents/occurrences) and vaqya is singular (incident/occurrence)
I have great interest in Urdu and from your site i get to learn many urdu lafz. With each word you people give the references that’s what i like the most. Great job , thank you.
