We have received innumerable queries and requests from many of you who would like to learn the beautiful language of Urdu. In our endeavor to encourage and spread the love for Urdu, we are launching Alif@Urduwallahs – an Urdu Learning Series for anyone interested in learning to Read & Write the language. Details are given below.
We would like to extend our thanks to our fellow Urduwallahs Akkta Panwar and Teja Pratap for their help and enthusiasm in collating the information for the sessions with Jawwad Sir.
Alif@Urduwallahs: At Malad
Course Level: Beginners
Course Period: 3 months
Frequency: twice a week (on weekdays, Tues and Thurs)
Time: Evenings 6.30 to 8.30pm,
Batch Size: 4-5 people, registration on first come first serve basis
Venue: At Urduwallah Teja’s home in Malad (Orlem, Near Orlem Church/Uncle’s kitchen Signal on Link Road)
Charges: INR 2000/- per person per month, including course books
Course Begins: August 13th
Alif@Urduwallahs: At Juhu
Course Level: Beginners
Course Period – 3 months
Frequency: twice a week (on weekdays, Wed and Fridays)
Time: Mornings 9 to 11am or Evenings 6 to 8pm
Batch Size – Minimum 10-15 people required for this course to take place
Venue: At Shibli Nomani School, Juhu
Charges – INR 2000/- per person per month, including course books
The classes are conducted by Professor Jawwad who has been teaching Urdu for the last 10 years as a High School teacher and through home tuitions over the last 2 years. He is also the Urdu Coordinator with IGNOU Distance Learning. He has completed his M.A. Urdu from Mumbai University.

Have the Juhu classes started? I emailed a few weeks ago but haven’t heard about them. if they are not taking place, could you please share the teachers’s contact information for private classes.

Hi Smriti – the Urdu class in Malad began last week. We are waiting for atleast 10 people to sign up, for classes in Juhu to begin. We will keep you posted. Do let us know if you are interested in the Malad classes. Thanks.

Hi Garima – thanks for your post. Currently we are not looking at Powai, however we can begin a batch in any area provided there are a minimum of 5 people. Currently we are looking to start classes in South Bombay and Juhu and we have an ongoing class in Malad. Do let us know if you know of anyone else in your area who could be interested. Thanks.
